I was quite concerned about installing the new aileron balances I made recently. I just wasn't used to the feel of them!
Because I have droop tips, I need to make the "spades" like Mike Bigelow made, except mine also incorporate some extra weight,
since his were for aileron assistance, and not for balancing. Scott Thompson built a set of aileron balances that he installed on his plane
that were similar to Mike B's, except his were for balance only, and not for easing the aileron forces. I sort of just combined the two!! Mine WILL assist with making the stick forces lighter, but they also balance the ailerons.......exactly.!!
With everything unhooked on the ailerons, and the balancer/spades attached, it is amazing how exact they make the ailerons hang!
Flip them up several inches and after 12-15 oscillations, they both settle down to being exactly level.
