Please DON'T back off the cable tensions! that is part of what was causing problems. Check the tensions often and set to spec. One thing you can check is to see if all the pulleys in the system are ball bearing types. Lube all metal to metal contacts (clevis pins, bolt to bushing and such) Wurth has a spray grease that penetrates and then solidifies into a grease (heavy duty WHITE lithium grease 18931041) Better than oil. Keep all lubricated parts clean.

Your observations are similar to my own. I have about 85 hours on the mod and as with most things ,you get used to it.

Subject: Question about handling CH601XLB post mods/flight evauation

        Dear Technical Support,

This morning I test flew N196ZP Ch601XL B model serial number 6-4839 at my local airport (SDC) with that in mind, I was a bit concerned over the "stiffness" of my ailerons. Before the mod I would describe my Zodiacs handling as superb, but today control forces in the roll aspect of flight were quite stiff and required some force to move.

Is this normal? I would assume some change in the handling qualities due to the mods/aileron counterweights, but I definitely was not that comfortable with the aileron response.

Should the cable tension be backed off a bit? Are you fielding similar response from other "modifiers'?

Other than that, I have attached some pictures of our latest iteration of our much loved Zodiac. We stripped all the paint off of her this winter while we completeed the mods and I am now trying to debug the aircraft after sitting for 1.5 years. Also, sorry about Sun N' Fun I was very saddened by the misfortune caused by the weather, I can't even imagine what it must feel like.

Well thanks for your time and consideration.

        Sincerely,

Jeff Paris and Peter Paris in Rochester, NY

There are no pulleys in a standard XL control system.
