				Hi JP,
The BRS system seems a good idea for fast slippery aircraft that lose
control at high altitude, but the aluminum construction
of the 601HDS is so light that a well installed BRS compromises the
structure of this very light aircraft. The HDS is not a delicate
plane so long as it's built to original requirements. I'd not recommend the
bird be modified for the BRS. Once you fly the 601HDS for
a while, you'll see how very stable the flying envelope is. I feel very
safe in the HDS because of its thick wing and large section construct.
Any break in the skin for a BRS would be a serious compromise in the
structure. This is my own personal opinion of course, that some would argue
with, but you'll eventually feel like the plane is part of you after the
first 20 hours. It's such a joy to fly!

I don't have an opinion about the BRS, but I want to add a comment about the HDS being a joy to fly. I have owned mine for 2 years and have about 140 hours on it and it is great. It would be hard to imagine a nicer plane to fly.

I remember seing posts and pictures of a BRS installation back un 2000. That added about 40 lbs to the plane and it involved running cables covered with tape outside the cabin on the fuselage sides.

Frankly, i agree with the other comments. My HD is so easy to fly. Not really nervous about a forced landing (slow enough and big wings) except for rollover protection. If i wanted to put more pounds, i would add them in that area instead.

I have a friend that did a forced landing in a wood trail after a cranksharf failure. The plane was damaged but my friend was not hurt.
