Hi Jose,
Those are reeeealy small needles, it's no surprise that your engine is
running lean. Your engine has the very first economy kit installed which
was superseded in 2007 by kits that supplied more fuel to the engine. Be
very careful when you drill the jets, make sure all burrs are gone and
the jets are entirely clean before you go out to fly. Perhaps better is
to order a 245 main jet from a nearby Jabiru dealer. You may even be
able to find them at a local BMW shop with a bit of Bing stock.
I would be happy to send you pictures, except my engine is in the UK
(without my plane attached..) and I will pick it up in just over a week.

My needle jet is 276 and the main jet is 220. I already bought drills
to open main jet to 249 and needle jet to 288.
Looking at the front cover of the EAA new catalog, I realized that I
need to raise the cowling entrances to the cooling baffles, in order
to increase the airflow in top of the cylinders. Then, I proceed to
study the latest pictures that you sent of your cowling. It is not
clear to me how is the coupling between your cowling upper and lower
parts, and the cooling baffles. Could you send me pictures of your
cooling baffles?
Jose
