After a long hiatus from flying due to numerous issues, I'm back. I flew for the first time last week since March 31! It turns out I hadn't forgotten how.
In any case, I've just moved to my new airport home with a hanger, and I'm finally in a position to start working on my list of things to make my Lightning the plane I want it to be.
Top of the list is the short wing tips. Having flown the plane with short and long wingtips, I much preferred the handling with the short wingtips. but the rounded and tapered tips are about the worst design possible from a drag stand point.
So I'm firing this out into the list. First, any news from the factory on short wing tips with the mini-winglet? Second, anyone tried some simple blocked off tips like what's on a Malibu? If I make my own I'm going to go that route for simplicity.
Anyone flying through the DFW area email me at bill(at)gdsx.com and plan a stop at F69 and I'll be happy to meet another Lightning driver. After wanting to live on an airport for 20 years, I'm finally there.

Bill,
glad you're back "in the air". Probably pretty exciting to have your own home/hangar. Send some pics.
Don't have any info on your short wings, as I'm pretty happy with the results I'm getting with the longer ones.
On another note, I just finished changing out all my Matco brake lines with another product. (Bonaco) I'll be doing a write up on these as I think they are FAR superior than the original ones that came with the brakes and not too expensive.
All is well here in Clearwater Florida. Have a great Christmas.

Bill,
That´s what has been on my mind for some time , too!
Nick told me , he might come around to make some short wingtips with winglet some day, but so far nothing happened.
The wingtips of my Lightning(No.89, to be completed spring 2012) are painted and all, but I am ready to spend some time and some bucks if somebody makes them. Maybe even not with those rather short winglets like the LSA, but longer , i.e. higher ones!Have you all seen the letast 757/767s?
So, Arion and all the others! Give it a go!
