After first flight, circuit work and sorting the hangar thunderbird ramp I need to get some confidence in GUMPY's cross country characteristics (temps and fuel burn, speed etc). I did a 2 hour run to and along the east coast yesterday for 200nm Southend, Clacton, Harwich- all Ok.
I am now thinking of a 4 hour/400nm trip and wondering is anyone else was interested. I fly from Leighton Buzzard (UK) so it would be something like, oxford, Gloucester, Swansea, St Davids head, Aberporth, and over the top (weather permitting to Shobdon and home past Gloucester. Maybe land once or twice.
I am thinking of June 9th, 16th 22nd or 23rd - first day with suitable weather.
So steady over the east coast yesterday but more bumpy over north London with the thermals.

Great to see your progress and all the photographs, keep them coming, it will encourage me at least to press on with my build!
Regards,
Peter.

Nice flight pics. Burnham-on-Crouch has shrunk though! The pic is of Althorne, slightly to the west. Dont try the same trip during the Olympics..

Graeme - pic 7 is Harwich in the lower half of the picture, with the River Stour beyond it, then Shotley with the River Orwell beyond that and finally a bit of the Felixstowe peninsula. Felixstowe town & docks are off to the right of the picture edge. I learned to fly at Ipswich Airport so all these landmarks are very familiar to me.
