Adding alcohol to gasoline is a cheaper way to raise the octane rating.
The gasoline stock can then be cheaper grade. As I recall, alcohol
has an octane rating of about 118. It is used in Indy race cars. It
would be interesting to find the Reed vapor pressure and compare to
that of gasoline.
