Guys,  

If my memory serves me right I think that William Wynne purchased his 601XL with the fuselage partially built. I think he also said that it is the prototype taildragger. It was purchased after the XL was released. That’s most likely why he chose the XL. He told me that taildraggers are his preference, but has nothing against tricycle gear.  I also think that I read somewhere that the engine mount points are the same on the HD and the XL. Thus it will use the same engine mount. I could be wrong on that point. As Cdngoose said before, talk to William about the Corvair/HD combo. I’m sure he’ll have some good advice.
