Craig,
I got bored again so I ran my own numbers. I upload the registration database to my server so I ran this query
SELECT faa_ar.modelname, count(*) as Total
FROM faa_ar, faa_master
WHERE ((faa_ar.mmscode = faa_master.mmscode))
AND((faa_ar.modelname like "YAK%") or
(faa_ar.modelname like "CJ6%") or
(faa_ar.modelname like "CJ-6%") or
(faa_ar.modelname like "SU-%") or
(faa_ar.modelname in ("E-3","I-3")) or
(faa_ar.modelname like "YAK%")
)
Group by faa_ar.modelname
Order by faa_ar.modelname
It yielded the following. These figures are valid as of today. I tell you what I will put this query into a web page with a drill down for each group how about that. TJ would you be interested in growth of the stock over time ?

Correction! I did some more searching on Yaks. You sneaky guys use different A/C
codes for the Yak-52 as well as variations on "Aerostar".
Add:
SC Aerostar Yak-52TW 1 (Oh..that Dalton guy)
Aerostar Yak-52 38 (+10 that I listed from another Aerostar code)
Aerostar Yak-52TW 28
-------------------------------------
Total Yak-52's of various flavors 175 + 67 = 242
Total Yak's of the M-14 variety = 378

Gus
I followed up with a world-wide survey for CJ's and Yaks of the 620 cu in. variety. I combined those into tables and wrote an article for the RPA Newsletter. Just submitted a few days ago. Your search includes lots of A/C that I didn't include but neglects other aircraft codes that the same kind of airplane may have been certified as. Some folks added their own names to the type so it may not show up unless you used a UNIX expression/script to cover lots of variations.
