Anyone know how to get oil in to the new pattern (i.e. with anti backflow valve) 912 oil filter before screwing it on to the engine?

Otherwise the engine takes a massive gulp or air on start-up.
In fact, oil pressure comes up in about 15 seconds (to just above the minimum pressure specified, a further two minutes to get anywhere near to its normal pressure and nearly 1 hours running to stabilise back to where it always sits.
All because the filter can't be primed.

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Why not fill the filter with oil before installation?

The new style filters that have been out for a couple of years can not be
pre-filled like the old style because of the check valve. The anti drain back membrane has nothing to do wit it. You should rotate the prop 20-30 times (this is in the maint. manual and old service bulletin) with the spark plugs in place and that will help facilitate pre-filling the oil filter. Rotax has determined that that small amount of air during the oil change is not detrimental.
