If anyone is interested, several months ago there was a post asking if anyone had tried Dyna Beads to balance the nose wheel of the L-29. I didn’t see any posts in response.
My L-29 nose wheel was out of balance and would shake rather violently after takeoff. I added the Dyna Beads this past Sat and flew the aircraft and the vibration completely disappeared. No vibration on takeoff or landing.
I backed off the axle nut enough to allow the heavy side of the tire to rotate to the bottom, taped weights on the tread of the tire until I got the tire balanced….about 1.25 ounces, as a reference amount. I removed the weights and added about the same amount (1-1.25 oz) of Dyna Beads into the tube.. I bought a kit that has a plastic bottle and tube that fits on the valve. Just pour the beads into the bottle, attach the plastic tube to the bottle and the valve and slooooowly pour the beads in. Time consuming to get the beads thru the valve but be patient. Might want to purchase the valve core that has the filter on the end of it too then you don’t have to worry about the beads clogging the valve when you check the pressure. Total cost less than $15.
