Here is a thought, guys: A sailor knows that he has to pay out anchor chain ten times his depth.

By increasing the angle of the tie-down, you increase its holding in the ground ... to a certain point, of course. I have the screw type (sold as dog's tie-down in pet shops) and I always extend them outward, nearly to the end of the wings.
