Hello All.
I am thinking of installing a Fuel Flow Meter in my Europa as the tank gauge is way out, and i use a Fuel Table that i have made up to check the contents in the tank, so a flow meter would be useful.

The engine is a 914, Full tank to Full tank 2 hr X/C flight, 28 litres.
Return 29 litres

There are so many on the market, TL, Flow Scan, ete ete,
Any comments as the Pros and Conns to different makes, ease of fitting ete.

Regards
Alan

Alan,

I have been totally happy with FDS FC-10

http://www.fdatasystems.com/Products/FC-10/FC-10.html

Today that computer is essential and mandatory in
my panel - would not like to fly w/o it any more.
It is a real safety equipment and when connected
to the GPS, gives as lot more peace of mind.

I was flying 2,5 hours formation flight with FK-9
and an average speed was around 100 kts. It was
nice to see I was using about 10,5 litres /hour
(engine rpm still 5000 w CS-prop). That means
endurance 6 h VFR reserves.

Wishes, Raimo

Hi Raimo!

Did you happen to note what your manifold pressure was at a fuel flow
of 2.9 gph and 100 kts? It seems a bit on the low side compared with N224XS.

Hi Raimo.
Many thanks, looks like a nice gauge, I have been looking at the link you sent, it gives pictures of the information as on the lcd screen.
Nice clear single displays, by press button.
I was hoping I would get a few more member chipping I on this, as its handy to have a few more thoughts on the matter.
Such as LAA approved senders ete, or problems that you encounter in fitting.

Regards.
Alan

I am extremely happy with my FC-10 ( http://www.fdatasystems.com/Products/FC-10/FC-10.html ).

As Raimo, I would be uncomfortable without a FF now I got used to having one.

For all FF's a calibration needs to be performed, which basically means flying of fuel and recording times and Gallons/Liters, then doing the math. Not a big deal. As a bit of additional safeguard, I put the actual fuel tank content minus 6 liters in as the maximum for the "virtual tank", and set warning about 3 liters 'above' the real point where main tank runs empty and switching to reserve is required to keep the engine running.

After putting in the K-factor that came with the sender, I burnt about 75 liters of fuel, then I calculated that I had to make a small adjustment. This adjustment gave me an accuracy of about 3% over the next 250 liters burnt (or should I say inaccuracy Wink). I then stopped recording all of the time because there was hardly any variance in the numbers. Now I check accuracy every once in a while, usually once a year over the course of a couple of flights.

Marcel,

great.

I check accuracy regularly: just refueling from
the pump and watching the numbers. If FF says
there will be in the tank still left say 23,4
liters I typically fill 42-43 liters (my tank is
68,1 liters) so it has a positive purpose made
error about 5% by K-factor.

Hi All.
Some help on this please,
Where did you take your power supply for the gauge from.
And where did you take the power supply for the sender from.
I take it the gauge and sender have one hard wire connection to send the data up to the gauge, or is there a Wi Fi version.
Regards.
Alan

Please do not trust Wi Fi or Bluetooth or anything
like this when essential!
