Zed,,,,,,, you asked some fine questions and I'll try to answer some of them, the answers will be "inside" your letter.------ my opinion only----

As somebody mentioned, there is the Polishing Rag Penalty.....baggage compartment will be full of rags and cans of metal polish, no room for beer.
