Martin:

You inquired about polishing your aircraft with Nuvite. We used it
with our 601 HDS and had great success. It took about 50 hours using
all three polishes but we only did it once in five years with the
exception of the leading edges which would get an application about
once a year.

Our aircraft was hangared the entire time and the Denver area is very
dry and corrosion is not usually a problem. Our post-flight included
thoroughly wetting a towel and wiping the bugs off the leading
edges. We immediately followed that by wiping it down with a dry
towel. Total time each post-flight=about 5 minutes.

The only down side to polished aluminum is that it is difficult to
see when airborne in comparison to a painted aircraft.

The other disadvantage to a polished plane is that it shows the ripples
and "smiles" in the skins more than a painted plane. Given the quality
of my construction I am thinking of painting mine camouflage Smile

If you want to see two examples of (mostly) polished XLs take a look at
William Wynne's and Phil Maxson's. William lives in Florida and does
not appear to be worried about corrosion:

All,
Here is a link that I had sent before on polishing. Dave has done a good job on his Sonex. You can follow along and read about his adventures with polishing Aluminum.

Good Luck,
