Hello,

As an omnidirectional antenna radiates at right angle, a belly bent whip antenna should radiate in a plan at right angle of the aircraft longitudinal axis. Hence the range should be very limited compared to a vertical antenna...

Does somebody know if this is the case or not ?

Thanks in advance for your science Smile

Bent belly whip antenna is slightly compromised in the vertical polarization plane for com signals but hardly a noticeable difference from a straight whip.

Bent or sloping whip makes virtually no difference. The ground plane is still flat, the magnetic component of the radiated field is caused by current flow, most of which occurs in the first third of the whip, so this portion is the area to leave straight.
