Gene,

I see you got a picture of the corn maze, Amazing Maze, at Cherry Crest Farm I was just there with my grandson the other day while visiting the Strasburg Railroad and the Rough & Tumble Threshers Reunion at Kinzer, Pa.

This is a great idea for a thread, everyone must have something to contribute:

Heres mine, El Mirage Dry lake California where I will be test flying my Kolb soon.

This pic is from a Lazair (See my Icon avatar pic) so I am looking forward to the extra leg room and even more panoramic view.

I have 5 miles of pavement flat salty runway ahead down there...perfect for test flying or extended crow hops Laughing

If you can stand some shameless (but non-commercial) self-promotion,
then check out my latest Texas-Flyer story:

http://www.Texas-Flyer.com/morelocalflying

for lots of things see from a Kolb in the air... and then, if
compelled, you can go read all the stories:
http://www.Texas-Flyer.com

I have to admit... not anything nearly as cool as mountains and canyons, though!

What better to see than a Kolb....

..... with the SW FL coast, Tampa Bay and St. Pete for a background and just up the coast, a little of Mother Nature.

Kolbs can't outrun skeeters and black flies. Nor white-sox either.
But a Blackbird sure can!
BTW caribou sometimes come up on glaciers, apparently to avoid flies

Russ K:

The water is shallow off shore between Kaktovik (Barter Island) and
Deadhorse. The carribou will wade out a couple miles to the sand
bar/barrier islands to escape the bugs.

I have seen them crowd onto patches of snow and large snow fields to escape
them also.

Although those salt flats appear landable, be careful about landing on
"dry" lake beds. Guess how I know?

Dennis:

I know what you mean....one year the Dry Lake was not dry, so I let the Motocross, Quad and Landsailers define the safe boundries for landing.

Ouch...that must have hurt and left a salty after taste Wink
I also had 1/8th inch metal wire skids on my Lazair and found that after 1 landing and 300 foot taxi to my car the metal skids were completely abraded through.....yikes

Its like 180 grit sandpaper....pity the poor motocrosser that lays a bike down on a dry salt lake.

Just wanted to revive this thread since there are some great pictures on here from around the country.

Anyone have some Riverside to Utah trip Pics.

If there is another one I might get my Ultrastar ready in time to join a couple legs of that trip and I would not mind seeing some of the route ahead of time.

I'm sure everyone has taken a pic from their Kolb or from another aircraft to snap a picture of a Kolb in flight.

How about posting it for all of us to enjoy!
