How do you guys balance the wheels on your L29s? I had mine done but with those sticky weights that I then pulled off as I was concerned it would come off and go through engine.
I thought to do it again, but mark the position, remove, and re-attach using epoxy.

I thing it is a good idea. In fact, only the nose wheel needs sometimes a balance. By chance, mine is perfectly balanced without anything.Jorgen, have-you any news for the cartridges ?

My front wheel has a terrible vibration – tyre is out of balance and I must do something.

have to balance tires and use internal stick on weights that go between wheel and intertube. only safe way to get ride of vibration. with the jets ouside weights are dangerous, can come off and be sucked in., I got rid of all vibration using this method also works for the YAK

Are these special type weights or the normal ones? I.e, are they rounded to prevent puncturing the tube?

First make sure you pre-load the bearings a little. (tighten the nut another turn.) If you jack it up and spin it hard with your hand, you don't want it to keep spinning. Maybe 1 to 1 1/2 times around then it stops. I take mine to the auto tire shop . They can "Turn" the brake drums, and spin balance your front wheel. Glue the weights in, or remove the tire and use truck tire weights that are made to go inside the tire exactly where you need them. The tube as well as the sticky glue on them hold the weights in place.

Aha! Thanks Bill.
That sounds like a properly engineered solution.
I wonder if one could balance car tyres the same way – no ugly weights on the rims. Of course there is no tube to hold it tho, would have to attach it really well.

That is how I did my long haul trucks when I was in the business. They sell the weights over here. They actually have a stickey surface. We use extra glue to be sure they stick. No tubes either.
