Dan,

Do you know if the IO-540 numbers they're posting are without fairings
as well? They should really be 10-15 Ktas faster at 14K if they're
with fairings, and that would be a cruise performance number, not a
top speed.

Tim,
Interesting question you pose since it appears the numbers posted are
from your airplane Wink If you click on the 'Actual Performance numbers' it
takes you to the performance page on your website. I guess it just goes to
show that your website truly is the source of all things useful for the
RV-10!

Mine is the one Jan is using to do the testing. I have not gotten to fly it since the turbo and intercooler have been installed because it was completed last weekend, but I have commercial tickets in hand to be there on Friday, then I can report from an end user experience.
My RV10 is still the only customer built flying with an alternative engine, but I know there are several getting close with Rotary's and V-8's

To the best of my knowledge he got the numbers from your performance
page, there is a link at the bottom of the chart but there are only two
listed on there so it is not a complete comparison in my opinion. That
is why I was so long in saying anything because I want to get it done
and then come up to your neck of the woods so we can get unbiased
numbers from both of our planes together.

Dan,

Here is a quick comparison with BSFC data points and reported fuel burn.
IO540
260hp - 109.2 hp loss at 14K = 150.8 possible HP.
Fuel burn 10 gph or 60 pounds / .43 BSFC = 139.5 hp. Lean cruise
estimate.

H6Turbo
Max HP? Does not matter since you are running 30in at altitude.

Fuel burn 12 gph or 72 pounds / .43 BSFC = 167hp
or
72# / .5 BSFC = 144 hp
or
72#/ .6 BSFC = 120 hp.

Great numbers regardless of your actual BSFC. You can always pull the
throttle back or dial down the prop Smile

Also the comparison was with the IO-540 in Lean of Peak
operation.

Thank You
