Guy , no chip on my shoulder. I only speak from what I have seen. Amd I think i go the document that shows the 14 gs and no rod end failure.
If i can find i will scan and post it.
That being said I will agree that the rod ends do look tiny comaored to others . For example I has a look at a N3 Pup ( 3/4 J3 Clone thingy) and it has huge rod ends. I mean like the threads are i think 7/16's on front strut and 3/8s on rear...... Now were they rolled theads and what is thier tensile I have no idea but certainly "bigger physically" than ours.
What size are used on the new Super Sport John McBean ?

Does anyone have tensiles of a rod end used ? \
Aircraft Spruce lists the tensile strength of rod end fittings in their catalog. The number 7000# comes to mind on 5/16". What ever the number x 4 divided by gross weight and you get some number. factor in impact load vs. static load and you get some number.......
A look at all(?) the cessnapipertaylorluscomehuskey types and you will find essentially the same fittings sized for weight/category.

While we on topic of the wing struts G;'s etc ......does anyone know what the speedster ultimate load limits were ?
