In fact, today I only had to sand the nose gear leg for less than 5 minutes more and it went in.
I also removed the paint from the weldments that go on the bottom end of the main gear legs and they fit fine too.
So the original issue of the gear legs not fitting immediately into their respective tubular parts was fairly easily resolved!
