Who is it in the Yak/CJ community that has the mod for the rudder
pedals for the
CJ to create more leg room. Thanks, Roger Bieberdorf

Gang,

We will post pics of the rudder pedal mod on our new web site soon. I
currently have nearly a dozen orders and will be making a production
run in our machine shop shortly. They will be milled out of billet
aluminum. If you're interested in being part of this batch. Let me
know. Again, cost is $250/set. Nets 4" of leg extension and is simple
to install.

Disassemble the section just behind the knob and remove the spacer. The spacer is about 3/4" long and the shaft for the knob goes through it. Removing it will then give you the same space in the rear as is in the front before any pedal modifications.

Hi Forrest,

Works the same for the front and the back.  First set came off the machine last night...we will be doing destructive testing on the first few sets to ensure adequate strength....our guess is they'll fail around 1200#.

Also, I'm not an expert on the -52, but it was my understanding that the spacer in the rudder pedal on the -52 was put there to prevent the rudder from hitting the spar.  Is that correct, Dennis?

Great day for flying here!

Cheers,

Barry

Barry,
Ref your question - spacer in the rudder pedal on the -52 was put there to prevent the rudder from hitting the spar. Is that correct, Dennis? I removed mine years ago and have not found the rear rudder pedal hitting the main spar at all. That may or may not hold true for all 52's. I'd suggest a person wanting to improve the rudder adjustment travel length in the rear cockpit remove the spacer and check for clearance between the rear of the rudder pedals and the main spar when fully deflected. An alternative would be to shorten the spacer and reinstall. By shortening the spacer by about 75%, the rudder adjustment will increase, but may prevent the rudder pedals from hitting the main spar.

Barry,

Being in the 6'+ club, I am interested by your Net 4".

Do you have pictures of an installed set? I have looked at your website but couldn't find any.

Thanks,

Hi Dan,
I sent you the info with pics.

UPDATE:  We had to make a slight adjustment to the prototype after test fitting in a CJ.  We want to make it perfect.  New design should be done today.  We'll test fit, then do destructive load testing and are hopeful it will be ready to go next week...

Cheers,

Barry
