Hi there,
Are you using Evans?
I have just had to change my Radiator Hoses after 150 hours using Evans - it seemed to soften them and developed a leak on the ends - tightening the clips didn't achieve anything. The hoses had expanded before the clamps and had gone "Squishy".
Hoses have been changed and Evans flushed out and replaced with 50/50 glycol mix and all is now well again.

No, I don't use Evans,
but I think its perhaps time to change the hoses, and fit the new clamps from rotax.
thanks

Leaking problems here too. As long as the engine is warm, not a drop. If i don't use the engine heater, there will be a few drops. Seems to be a problem caused by different expansion ratios. The traditional screw type hose clamps are not good enough. However i could only find Rotax 17 mm spring clamps. Anyboby with a source and or partnumber for 25 mm spring hose clamps?

Hi Jos
"Anyboby with a source and or partnumber for 25 mm spring hose clamps?"
I am not a tremendous fan of hose clamps that hold a constant dimension on
something that heats up and cools down. If you overtighten to prevent cold
leaking, it can permanent damage hose once things expand when things warm
up.
http://rotorclip.com/
to the rescue.
Rotax changed over to band style spring clamps for coolant hoses for just
the reason described.
www.mcmaster.com sells Wide-Band Self-Tightening Spring Hose and Tube
Clamps on page 252.
I know I ordered a full compliment for my 914 install, some from McMaster,
and some from Rotorclip. I can't remember if I ordered direct from
Rotorclip, or if they gave me a distributor and ordered from them.
For what it is worth, I have a set of blue Silicone hoses for 914, which
are slippery creatures compared to traditional hose.
Ron Parigoris
PS McMaster has a nice selection of Miniature Bolt Hose and Tube Clamps in
304 SS on page 251 "fuel, sight, vent" line and other from 19/64" up to
45/64".

Hi Jos
I used Vauxhall/Opel/GM Part number 90572595 spring clamps,
I have used Silicone hoses on my 914 which are slightly thicker than the
stock Rotax hose, But these clips are suitable for both type of hoses,

Thank you guys for the rescue. Because i have a very non-standard cooling system, i had to make connections from different pieces of hose. It looks like a patch blanket As a result there are a lot more possible leaking conections as i would like.
Remembers me: I have a brand new oil cooler, which i will not use. Available for shipping costs.

Hi Jos
I just remembered taking a look at using heat shrink for sealing hose connections:
http://www.gates.com/brochure.cfm?brochure=1020
Never got samples. Perhaps I saw that McMaster sells??
If you or anyone has experience with this technology, please share with group and what thoughts are for Rotax application in Europa.

Ron P:
I followed the discussion and found solace in spring band clamps per
McMaster-Carr page 252 bottom, and the pliers suggested thereto. Is this
what the conference is on? I have to move the two forward coolant lines,
starboard side to accommodate the SD20 alternator and hope these satisfy the
need........
Did you do this?
Cheers, Ferg

I didn't yet do final install of 914. When I had it hung temporary, I
ordered clamps I thought I would need. Will use spring band clamps on all
coolant connections. I can't remember exactly which clamps I got from
McMaster, but they I think only carry the very wide ones, and they also
were missing exact size I needed for some. I too ordered the pliers, very
good investment. Best wear goggles when doing install, if one ever failed
or slipped out of pliers it has easy potential of blinding you. I fooled
with other than purpose built pliers, far more dangerous. I supplemented
McMaster clamps with Rotor clip order.

Hi! Ferg/Ron/all
Courtesy Ivor Phillips I've used the same spring clamps which are
Vauxall motor parts. However I also used the "remote applicator" from
Halfords which I found needed a slight lip up stand welding to it to
prevent the spring clips flying out so easily. It was also necessary to
remove (dremel cutter) the "stop tag" from the clip to open them enough
to get over Ivor's slightly larger diameter pipes.
I had to resort to using a jubilee screw clip on the water pump
connection pipe since it is a stubby piece of pipe of insufficient
length to accommodate the wide band spring clips.
I will say that these spring clips are far more professional than the
original jubilee screw clips and the remote applicator allows access
where it's impossible to get two hands at the same time.
