For those going to Sun & Fun it does not appear that there  is any problem with the Florida use tax.  FMI read:

I understand the same people who have been ripping off out-of-state aircraft owners are now saying  

“No problem, come on in” (said the spider to the fly)  

I’m staying home this year.

Hello,

 I think it's totally illegal to try to charge "use" tax on  out of state aircraft. If that ever happened to me I would never pay. They have no leverage anyway against an out-of-state resident. I can't believe this attempt at robbery has not been struck down as unconstitutional right away!

 I would totally agree.  FL isn't the only one ..... look at what Maine did to the poor guy who flies up for vacation!!!

 Actually, they do if they want to.  States routinely share information .... and collection ..... if the item is big enough or the guy is bored enough.

 Making laws ..... including the bad ones is the job we give to our government.  The only way bad laws disappear is if someone challenges them in court.  It's far cheaper to live with bad laws (or find a way around them) than it is to hire an attorney.

Posted: Mon Apr 07, 2008 5:22 am Post subject: Florida Use Tax

Because of the need for SnF to contact the state of "Da" and get a waive on  plane inspection for the Use tax law...I've decided a couple of weeks ago to  cancel my trip to SnF and not spend another dime in the State of "Da"...I'd  encourage others to do so and tell SnF to inform the State of "Da" their  attendence and other associated revenue is down because of their trying to rip  off airplane owners...I'd also encourage others not to fly to Maine for any  reason or go on vacation there and boycott anything coming from there until they  come to their senses, also.
