I'd be most appreciative if someone whose airplane is currently on a
trailer nearby could take some measurements of the clearance between
the side of the fuselage and the wing surface.

Measurements adjacent to the hole for the wing spar, and adjacent to
the rear drag pin would be most useful; please note whether your ship
is a mono or a trike.

Thanks in advance,

Fred

Fred,

I had my mono on the trailer until very recently and can only quote from
memory, since I have stared at the two locations
you mentioned often enough, but never measured them. Mine is a factory
trailer (from Europa), and I would say that the
rear fittings on the fuselage are about 2" from the top wing surface. I
always stick foam rubber wedges in between for travel. I would never
consider rigging the aircraft every time I want to fly, but the trailer is
very useful to take the aircraft
home for mods or winter storage.

Regards

Peter Timm

Peter & Fred
it is around 2 inches. Not a lot! The trouble is, when the trailer goes
over a bump in the road the fuselage bounces up on its own suspension
and is then no longer restrained by the ramp gripping the main gear leg.
I always recommend a long luggage strap over the nose, just ahead of the
bottom of the screen to hold it down firmly. That fixes the problem
