Just wanted to post a note on the repair of my Warp Drive prop. Many of you know I suffered a prop strike when an aluminum fabric inspection plate came off and struck the prop on edge. Never really knew it happened until I was putting the plane back in the hangar.

I flew with an IVO the first 200 hours. I'm pretty sure this prop strike would have took a chunk out of the IVO.

I was almost positive that I would have to replace the blade. I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $300. Called Daryl at Warp Drive, Inc and sent him a picture. He said a repair would be no problem.

Sent him all three blades. Asked him to repair the damaged blade and trim 1" off all three for noise. Went from 72" to 70". He did all that, cleaned and rebalanced the blades. He even got the south Louisiana bug guts off that I couldn't. I can't tell which blade was repaired. All three look brand new.

I basically got a new set of blades for under $120, including return shipping. Certified GA couldn't even get an A&P to look at it for that! He also included some extra 8mm nyloc nuts in that.

I'm super pleased. One thing to note is that there are distrubutors for Warp props. As best I can tell, they just sell and don't do repairs. If you are buying or servicing, I would recommend you go straight to the source.

Now it is time to set pitch and check cruise RPM. You guys have a blast at MV. The wind is howling out there right now. Be safe.

I know many pilots and a few true aviators. There is a distinct difference that I have the greatest respect for.

Daryl is number one in my book, and so are his props. Been flying with them
for 15 years. They have taken me to some exciting places and brought me
home again safe and sound.

I repitched my Warp Drive, 3 blade, 70 inch prop yesterday. Wanted to take
a little pitch out of it and turn a little more rpm. I dropped one degree.
This brought my climb rpm to 5300 to 5400 rpm. Straight and level it will
turn 5500 to 5550. Engine is much crisper. Seems to have really freed it
up. 5000 rpm cruise is 85 mph on the button.

I picked up a steady vibration on my test flight yesterday. Not bad, but
noticeable. Went through the entire repitch process today. One blade was
about an 1/8" (bubble) out. Got all three blades singing off the same sheet
of music. Flies slick as a turbo today.

Getting ready for MV,
