The NTSB report stated that the wing top skin had pulled up from about six
feet from the tip endboard. ect.
Is there a skin lap there or is the top wing skin one piece on the 601XL? DO

I'd suggest that weather conditions on previous flights might be of
interest, especially whether the plane had been exposed to very cold temperatures.
Aluminum shrinks more than steel as it gets colder, so the bolts would provide
less clamping force, and the holes, if tight, might put the aluminum around
the circumference in tension, leading to crack initiation. At the same time
the aluminum would be more brittle. If any stress were incurred, such as a
hard landing, it might spread more easily through the cold-stiffened
airframe. The eventual failure of the crack might be the inevitable result of an
earlier initiation. I remain a sideline kibbitzer, as I am only considering
purchase, but I hope the details are worked out. Good luck.

Someone asked for links to photos etc. Here is a link to a news report on an accident in Brazil a few days ago,

Very sad.
