Alex,
Have you tried a fluorosilicone lube on your fuel caps? It is not washed out by the solvent action of the avgas and the fluid in the grease has a very flat temperature viscosity curve -service temp is minus 20F to +450F. I am using Dow Corning 3452 valve lubricant. Aircraft Spruce pg. 164 in my cat. Not inexpensive but lubricates the o-ring and the mechanical mechanism and repels the water very well.

This product is also sold thru bearing and transmission supply stores so you may be able to buy it locally.
