I'm having problems finding something. Can anyone give me
a tip as to where to look?

For some reason, I thought there was a *Van's Provided* procedure
for static balancing the elevator that we're supposed to do.
Yes, I know I've heard of how other people do it, but isn't
there a procedure somewhere in the plans or documentation
that we're supposed to use to balance that elevator? It's
been too long for me to remember exactly what I did way back
when....so I'm trying to find the info and refresh my memory.

Or, do they just tell you how to cut and fit the counterweights
and leave it at that?

It's been waaay too long....and after you fly you start to
forget.

Tim,
Check out page 2 of the 'Final Inspection and Flight Test' from Van's. That page will give you the Balancing Limit values. I am not aware of any instructions directly from Van's however I have a copy of a post that does a pretty good job of detailing it that was posted here back in Jan 2007.

Not sure if this will help Very Happy

Cool, thanks, I remembered that I read that post, but couldn't
remember where I got the data from. Thanks to you I found the table
again. I was trying to find it in the plans for the elevator and
a couple other places....no luck. I was thinking that perhaps
they should have at least put a note in the various control surface
sections with the specs.
