I found a Kitfox 3 kit close to my house at a very reasonable price. I had started building a scratch CH 701 but I really do like the features of the Kitfox like the folding wing. They do fold on this model right? Anyway I'm here to ask some questions. I believe that this thing will accept a Rotax 912 UL engine? I am kinda set on the Raven G10 /G13 engines have these been used on this airframe before? With The Rotax and VGs what kind of performance for take off, landing and cruise ( with all the fairings added) I know its not a spot lander or a helicopter, but then I really don't need it to be quite that.

There is something on the Kitfox site about Yaw on the model 2, was this corrected on the 3 model?

How much fuel does it hold and where is it carried.

Sorry for jumping in and asking so many questions, but for one I want to compare your answers to what the guy is saying and two like always someone else is looking at it.

Thanks for any help.

Kevin

Yes, they do fold, and easier than the IV, since you don't have to
disconnect the flaperons. However, whether it's easy to fold depends
on the builder. If you build knowing you're going to regularly fold
you can make it quite safe and simple. (I fold every time I fly,
which is usually 3-4 times a week.)

A good place to do it.

One of the Kitfoxes on our field is a 3 with a 912UL. Damn thing goes
nearly straight up.

All the Kitfoxes 1-3 had no adverse yaw reduction, and therefore
require substantially more rudder activity than your average Cessna
driver is used to. However the rudder force is very light so it's
easy enough to accomplish, even for long periods. Also, the IV had
substantially larger and fully symmetric flaperons, making it much
more responsive in roll.

That depends on the kit. I believe the 3 was still available with the
poly instrument panel tank. There were also various combinations of 6
and 13 gallon wing tanks. Depending on your fuel burn and bladder
capacity you can get rather dramatic endurance numbers. (How about 6
1/2 hours for a 912!)

Well, if history is any judge, you'll get quite a variety of answers
here as well.

Thanks for the reply, he emailed me today and the mount is for a 582. Does the factory have info on these like thrust line stuff for welding up a different mount, as I know that the company has changed hands a few times.

Was there any major difference in the cowl for the 912 vs the 582?

Thanks again

PS straight up is good! Very Happy

Kevin

Contact John directly at info(at)kitfoxaircraftllc.com. I suspect he has
not only info but hardware.
