Just got hold of 3 very nice switches from McMaster Carr going to use for
gear down and locked switches.
Not cheap, but they are in a anodized aluminium housing, has wires potted
in place and a sealed actuation pin. Will use the stainless arm for the
outrigger set on a bias so arm can not get side loaded. For the main gear
lever will just let the lever arm push direct on the switch actuation pin.

Ron,
Thank you for your posting. Incredible timing because I have been
contemplating for some time now about asking if anyone knows of waterproof
microswitches that I could use for the outriggers.
Regarding your U/C lever switch, to my way of thinking, if you are going to
have a true Down and Locked indication, you will need an extra switch to
sense when the undercarriage latch is fully engaged. This one should be in
series with the one depicted in your photograph of the U/C lever in the Down
detent.
Just my 2c worth.
Cheers
Kingsley

Hi Kingsley
I have a spring on latch and things are set where you can not actuate switch with latch hung up. I realize this is a new build and things can change. I don't think things will change, but will keep an eye on and if I ever see latch not locked and switch actuated will fiddle to make happen again.
If you did not do so, install a spring. I could not achieve what I considered reliable results using gravity to allow latch t fall into place. For one thing, unless surface where upstop contacts lever is polished, it can drag and hang up. Also if you push hard enough, the slight clearance allowed thing to twist and slight jam in up position.
If you notice I am using a NAS bolt for pivot (dished cut on head). AN hardware is undersized, NAS is much closer to bolt size, thus better fit. Side note, NAS fit is much better for undercarriage mounting frame to CPM.
Downlatch spring works great:

I purchased a pressure switch from Europa, same as stall warner switch will put in down and latched circuit. Will set where it triggers at ~70 knots to liven up circuit.
Thinking in addition to LEDs, will put a cell phone style mini motor in stick with offset weight to shake stick if you are under 70 knots and gear is not down.
In future when I get glider wings installed, will need to put one more switch on the airbrake lever. With airbrake closed, circuit will be dead, only when you open airbrake will circuit come alive. You want gear up when below 70knots when soaring.

Hi Kingsley
I changed my mind! Working on mounting switch for gear lever, came to conclusion it will be more eloquent and functional to imbed a magnet on the tip of the gear down latch on the port side of the aeroplane, and use a reed switch.
We ordered up from Allied an assortment of Coto Technology Dyad reed switches (both molded and not, mini and regular all with wire leads), and the only magnet they offered that seemed would work. Also ordered and assortment of magnets from McMaster.
This way the only way the reed switch (on the port side below) will be turned on is if the latch is down, which means the lever is in proper position.
Will post what we decide on.
