I was trying to take apart my front Matco wheel so I could mount the tire on it.

The instructions that came in the box had no instructions for disassembly, just an exploded view. So I went off prior experience and just tried removing the six bolts. Obviously the wheel will not separate.

The two piece wheels that I have dealt with before ( C-150 ) have had a retainer clip so you can get the to bearings. That retainer clip also has acted as the last thing holding the wheel together once the bolts have been removed. I assume this is the case with the Matco, but I can't find anything like it, nor do I see anything like it on the drawings.

Can someone enlighten me to how you take these things apart?

Thanks, and DO NOT ARCHIVE this message, but please archive the answer!

John:

Try the Matco site at >http://www.matcomfg.com/?uid=2192&page=433<
The Matco site is among the better ones and I am sure the answer is available. I don't remember having the same problem with mine but I did spend quite a bit of time on the site researching wheels and brakes. If you still have problems give me a call at 303-674-6910 and I will go through my files which I have immediately available.

Thanks!

As you thought I was not applying enough force. I ending up using the largest rubber mallet I could find making heavy blows against the half with the valve hole.

Now I just need to figure out how to stretch that O-Ring around the tire and get the valve stem in there.

Thanks again!
