7 Europa’s made it to Halfpenny Green today in great flying conditions (for most anyway). I enjoyed a particularly nice flight home over the Welsh hills.
Thanks to all who came.

Yep! Nice call Richard we had a great flight each way……..only spoilt when I reversed the damn aircraft trailer down the side of my neighbour’s badly parked Ford Ka.
If the main Volvo dealers had kept nearside mirrors in stock when I hoped to pick one up yesterday it would have been possible to see the impending happening …..likewise if the stupid cow of an oncoming horse box driver a metre off her n/s kerb the hadn’t squeezed me into some nearside parked cars I wouldn’t have needed a bloody mirror in the first place !!!!!!!
Having said all that I was a “prat” not having a flag man or a reversing TV camera !
Happy days !
Regards
Bob

Hi Richard ….but intended for all!......
Actually further to my last reply I messaged the pilot of G-_ _ BR on departure through Halfpenny Green ATC that his nose wheel was shimmying violently on his take off run. If he managed to get landed without disintegrating his nose wheel spat or loosing his wheel he must attend to the shimmy adjustment and/or put in shimmy damper friction grease on it before next flight in his own serious interests.
Regards
Bob Harrison G-PTAG.

that was Peter Curley, he recently bought Colin Smallwood's masterpiece
and is loving it. His landing at Tatenhill was a greaser he told me. I
explained the shimmy damper to him so he has been warned. I'm glad he
has made his first DOTH and started on the learning curve. Good pilot
and a good engineer, he was a RR man. (so was Colin, hence the masterpiece)

Hi! Graham
Thanks for that ...all in the interests of safety. If Peter were to take
my advice he will make a new pivot spindle 1" longer and also use an
additional roll pin centered cross ways 1" below the original plus the
damn Loctite, then he's "cooking with gas".
However, I also gained the best training in the world at "Rush'em and
Rest'em" and Colin was one year ahead of me, I met him at the last PFA
Kemble Rally but I guess that all those years ago my reputation didn't
go before me ! He should remember Mick Capes (my Brother in Law)of his
year. Mick went on to Rolls Royce and Associates Raynesway, Nottingham
University and then up to Dounreay Naval Land Based Nuclear Submarine
Base for upwards of 20 years but retired suddenly without explanation
but has since had bowel cancer!!!!?
We have our suspicions as to what happened.
Happy days .....!

Donated some of my rapidly shrinking stock of magic damping grease to
G-NESA this week. Seems most trigear drivers eventually come to that
conclusion. Haven't had to touch mine in the 2/3 years since I
greased it.
Thanks Richard for picking out such a good flying day.
Bob, did you know that your radio transmissions are very noisy?
Sounds like a 10 ish Hz buzz.

Hi! William
Yes I'm "on the case" of the radio, thanks, since the antennae is about
buggered due to mishaps pulling the a/c into the trailer and it is on
the belly. Mind you ATC don't seem to moan about it.
As soon as I'm grounded to attack the Transponder Mod S problem I'll be
returning to my di-pole one in the rudder since I now haven't a Jabiru
engine it may work better !
