On my Kitfox I put wingtip landing lights on it, but never liked them
as I don't like the way wingtip mounted landing lights illuminate the ground.
I have a detachable light bar, that I attach to my float attach points on
the belly now. It has 3 big halogen lights on it, and illuminates the
runway better than the high beams on my car. I use a quick disconnect
plug, and it takes about 2 minutes to mount the light bar (2 bolts)

Belly mounted lights also offer a BIG advantage that reflected light
off the belly provide great ground illumination in the flare, so you have
illumination to the sides in your peripheral vision. Which if you have
tried to three point a taildragger at night you will know exactly what
I'm refering to.

I have flown various other planes with wing located landing lights
and none of them have worked nearly as well as do my current belly
mounted lights.

I think you can do a slick looking wing light installation, but I don't
think they will work as well as do belly mounted lights.

On the Kitfox even with 3 big KC Hilites (yes offroad truck lights)
even thought they look like real drag producers, the reality is
that I don't notice much difference in performance.

I've been flying with them for about 6 years now and they really have
worked well for me.

Regards,
Jeff
