So there I was sitting at the quarterly meeting of the Minnesota Wing of
Van's Air Force this morning listening to Dick Martin talk and thinking,
"man, this is good, lots of folks should hear about this." And then there
was talk of the service bulletin, and some other folks had good information.
And this morning I browsed a bunch of Web sites from Matronics to VAF to
Yahoo to EAA to builder sites -- just like everyone else does -- and thought
"it would be nice to have a quick summary that highlights the stuff that's
going on in the RV world....referring people to the proper forums, podcasts,
message boards, mailing lists and Web sites from whence they came.

So now there is? RV Builder's Hotline. Delivered every Saturday morning to
your inbox. No charge. No advertising. No privacy violations.

Just because.

Here's the Web site sample. But it will only be available by e-mail in HTML
or PDF format (please stipulate).

http://home.comcast.net/~bcollinsrv7a/eaa/rvbuildernewsletter.htm

And if you have something you'd like to highlight (especially if it's
published elsewhere and you just need folks to find it, send it along)

Isn't this exactly along the lines of what Doug does on
www.vansairforce.net? Anything "newsworthy" in the RV scene usually appears
there... A little collaboration on your part might save a lot of people
having to look in multiple places.

And if you recorded the talks, like the one Dick Martin did, you could stick
'em up on Doug's site under "RV Talk" for the world to hear...
http://www.vansairforce.net/rvtalk.htm

Just my 2 cents. I have too many "things" to follow as it is.

Nobody's forcing anybody to do anything, Dan. And it's not meant to detract
from anyone's site and as good as VAF is, not everything is there,
especially with folks trying all sorts of new things and technologies.

It's meant to be what it says it is...a QUICK read of highlights. Hopefully
it'll be clean and efficient, help everyone find even more information on
ALL of the various places it may exist.

If folks don't find it useful, no harm no foul. They'll never see it nor be
bothered by it.

Bob,

It's perfect. I for one like the simple format without being bombarded with advertising that's found on that other site.

Everyone who subscribed to the RV Builder's Hotline via e-mail should have received a copy in their INBOX this morning. If not, check your sp*m settings and delete box. A list of "returned mail" is kept at the online edition at: http://home.comcast.net/~rvnewsletter/ , so you may want to check there too.

Sorry for the delay. They were all supposed to go out at midnight but Comcast doesn't, apparently, like hundreds of e-mails being sent out at once so I had to break it up into 10 distribution lists.

Bob,

I read it this morning and found several items of interest. Many thanks. I
wonder, though, just how much of your life is going to go into this! That's
a very large task.

Well, all of my life goes into it because, well....that's life. (g). I like
writing. I like assembling... So it's not like I'm doing something I don't
like at the expense of something I do. The RV project is out there in the
garage and it's progressing too and a nice relaxing pass. I've decided to
watch less TV, so that's good. And since the SportAir workshop at Osh (which
I had to bag after anhour), I've suffered from what appears to be Meniere's
Disease (although they're not exactly sure yet), so I'm grounded TFN,
realizing that I may never actually get to fly this thing I'm building...and
doing this helps me live vicariously through the folks that can still fly.

So, bottom line,it's fun.

Of coursse, my housecleaning doesn't get done as often (I'm like Monk on TV)
and when I walked into the den here this morning (where the dog also sleeps)
I noticed it smells like a dog. That's probably the biggest effect of the
project. (g)

Bob,
Your newsletter is a real plus for the RV community. Well put together,
relevant AND attractive. Keep up the good work. As others have said, it
takes a major effort.
Sorry about your medical problems.

Best regards,

Richard Dudley

This is a great summary of interesting things from various sources. I don't
see it as competition to any of the email lists or bulletin boards -- just a
great compilation of the best of the week by an experienced editor.

Thanks Bob!

Oh, no, I haven't given up yet. Still early. I've heard from a few folks who say the same thing. I do want to figure out what FAA docs are going to be looking for when I go in in the way of proof it's not bothering me anymore. 'course....I gotta get to the point where it's not bothering me anymore (g).
