I had to use packing tape over the whole gas cap to get a good enough
seal to see if there were any leaks. I don't think the gas caps are
designed to be totally leak proof.

In testing my first fuel tank, it appears that I have a leak. The only
leak I can find in the fuel cap. Air bubbles were coming up from under
the tab. I moved the tab to different positions to ensure that the
leak moved with the tab and to rule out the leak was coming between
the flange and skin. The leak did move. So I decided to increase the
tension by ¼” turn. That helped eliminating the leak around the seal,
but it does appear that I still have a leak coming from the center
post. It also appears to be the same with both fuel caps.

I’ll give Van’s a call in the morning, but I was curious as if anyone
else has run into anything similar and have some advice to share.

Thanks,

Bob

Same for me. I got one to seal, never got the other one to seal. Have some
leakage in flight when the line guy fills up the tank to high.
