Ok, now you guys really have got me fooled.

When a bullet leaves the gun barrel is it flying, falling, or stalling?

Could an airplane ever stall and fall up rather than down? (lets say
at the top of a loop?)

Does an airplane fall in the same direction when it stalls in
Australia as it does at Sun and Fun?

Is the direction of the fall of Pat Ladd's airplane sideways when it
stalls? ( relative to the moon)

Could any of you experts please help un-fool me? Smile

Joe Kittinger, the holder of the free-fall altitude record (103,000
ft. or
so, IIRC) purportedly exceeded Mach 1 and used a drogue chute to
slow down
and stabilize in the descent.

Gene
I'll try to answer:
1. The bullet is falling. A dropped bullet and a shot bullet (level
flight) reach the ground (same elevation) at the same time.
2. yes, the air is effectively pushing down on the aircraft, on the
bottom of the wings that is, at the top of a loop, assuming positive
G's. If it stalls, it would go up relative to the ground, down
relative to the relative wind.
3. Yes, same direction, toward the center (sorry, centre) of the
earth. Towards gravity.
4. I haven't seen Pat fly, but anything's possible!
