Since it became popular, the price has gone out of sight. I found a source for 10.00, 13 oz cans, but they wanted 25.00 to ship 5 cans. ;-( Corresponding with them to get a better shipping fee resulted in one reply, then nada.

Just got a phone call back from the airport. They want 16.75 for a 13 oz aerosol can. It really has gone up.
Or my memory on how much I paid is a bit fuzzy.

Not price gouging, of course!

Thanks for your efforts, Boyd.

That's gouging. Price for the same can, on line, from Plexus Company, is 13.75.

Maybe, we as a List, can make an extensive search to come up with a good, reliable, and not too expensive source, for Plexus.

If you have not used it, it is a miracle, especially on long cross country flights. It is a pleasure to get back in the airplane after the lexan has been cleaned and polished with Plexus.

I bought a can of "generic" stuff that is supposed to do the same thing as Plexus, for 10.00, somewhere in VA, but it doesn't do what Plexus does. When dew or rain gets on it, after application, it streaks like crazy. Not what I am looking for.

Guess Plexus has gone the route of Rotax. Captive market, good product, demand, double the price. ;-(

Thanks, Robert L:

I am ordering two kits (4 ea 13 oz cans) from JC Whitney. Shipping is 8.99. Best I have found. 4 cans will last me a little while.

If I go with 4 kits or 8 cans, shipping is free.

Decisions, decisions!

I ordered 4 kits (8 cans) and free shipping. Came out to 10.49 a can. Makes good Xmas presents. Wink

Uh oh.... I better get down to the local motorcycle place and see what they're charging. Last 2 cans I bought were around $6 and I"ve about gone through those.

Yes since it's popular now in aviation (i've been using it for years with great results) of course its going to skyrocket in price.... argh....

Just curious guys, if anyone else has ever taken my suggestion to use
GE MR10 LEXAN?
Lexan is a GE trademarked name. MR10 is hard coated and does not
scratch unless you hit it with a
rotating drill bit. (yup, one scratch here) Being able to rinse off
my window with windex and a paper towel
and having no adverse results is a real pleasure. I don't tempt
fate, placing a Dollar General fuzz-backed
tablecloth on it when parked but my windshield still looks like the
day I put it on.
The doors are looking good too.
Don't plan on buying any plexus.

The beauty of Plexus is the ease it removes bugs and other dirt and
contamination from the Lexan and painted nose cone.

On long flights, it is a blessing. Makes me feel good mentally and
physically, starting out in the morning with a fresh windshield.

Don't recommend trying to polish Lexan with anything other than Plexus.
Lexan is soft. What you are using must have a special coating on it.

I flew with a friend in a rented C152 this morning. The FBO had a can of PLEXO I used to clean the windshield. It is a knock-off of Plexus and a lot cheaper. It seemed to work about as well as Plexus. I found this website where it is sold; there may be others.

Also, I've noticed that Plexus smells almost indentical to Lemon Pledge. I suspect it might actually just be a very expensive can of Lemon Pledge. I'm going to pick up a can of LP and compare them on some scrap plastic to see what happens....

Lucien,

I used to use Lemon Pledge and it worked pretty well but in my experience it is not as good as Plexus or Plexo or perhaps some others similarly formulated. Cleaning the windshield and other leading edges after every flight, regardless of the product, makes the whole chore pretty easy. Aged bug remains are harder to dislodge than relatively fresh killed ones. I also now put a coat of liquid wax on the leading edges after flight. It only takes a couple minutes. I learned to do that after pulling a 5th wheel RV for some time. Makes a world of difference next time you clean.

One article mentioned that the propellant in LP is propane gas. Maybe be
careful where and how it is stored.

I've been using lemon Pledge for years on our Citabria, Kolb, and
Hawk windows and leading edges. Works great although there could be
some thing better out there. The price isn't bad and it's easy to get.
