I’ve got Rick’s fuse stand pics, but wondering if Van’s has a recommended way to make the pallet stand that folks talk about.  Sounds like a couple of pallets screwed together with casters on the bottom will work…?

I bolted on a set of tires using 2" aluminum angle. It allowed me to roll the fuselage in and out of the garage. It turned to to be about a good height for me to reach over the top longerons to work.

Made fiting the fiberglass cabin top easy too.

The pallet route was to "Ghetto" for me plus the fact pallets are in big demand in Vegas, the unfourtunate gather them and get $5.00 each for them and I didn't have the heart to steal any let alone toss'em in the back of my expedition.. I didn't like the splinter factor either. So far the stand has worked well, All the riveting has been done and I'm getting ready to get into the fuel lines and controls. FWIW, pallets are usually made out of Oak, perhaps one could fashion their skin bending block from one of the stringers Smile

I highly recommend getting bigger wheels than I used, I have one wheel that loves to seek out the crack in the floor but on the other hand it has been handy as a chock...so, maybe it's OK.

Jim's system has a lot of potential as well, I would think you could get some 2" angle with the holes predrilled, some 1/4-20 carriage bolts and wing nuts and make his stand easily adjustable in height, a tail wheel should be easy to fabricate with the same material with a wood block attached to the aft tailcone bulkhead.
