It's been a while since I did a write-up, and now that I'm done with my
Annual Condition Inspection and a bunch of winter projects, I decided
to quick do an update.

http://www.myrv10.com/N104CD/index.html

I only make note to this one because it just happens that I covered some
things like USB panel jacks, brake lines, brake fluid, door latches,
and lots of topics...some of which some people may have some interest
in or use it to get ideas from.

Thanks for the write-ups Tim. I am just reading your Christmas trip.
Nothing like a winter trip to FL, especially Key West which gives you
all the tropical visuals, with a return to winter at the end. Turns
the airplane into a magic carpet.

I was with you on the climbouts thru the icy clouds. I've done the
first penetration in the Maule a couple of times but the jump to 11K
just isn't doable. That's when I learned about the value of excess
horsepower (aka climb capability). It's not fun getting squeezed
between layers and realizing your only option is down. Really key to
working around the ice in winter even down here in NC.

Nice writeup - Thanks much for the inspiration.

Totally right regarding the climb performance. I was just NEVER keen
to the idea of many people early on who wanted that continental with
less H.P. IMHO, one of the absolute best things about the -10 is that
you can do a 260hp engine....and with that you get climb performance.
Get above the bumps, the clouds, and away from summer heat much
faster. Putting lesser HP in would be a big downer to an otherwise
fantastic airplane. It's not nearly sk much about the speed as it is
the climb rate.

Tim, as always, thanks for the write ups. I've learned a lot from your web site.

I agree with HP statements. Out here in the west, climb rate and service ceiling are often important in whether a trip is go or no-go.
