Joe, I've been on the list for quite a while, and yours is the first I've seen. Must be just you and me.

Now with someone posting to the RV-12 list.  I will begin posting progress on the VAN's build project for the Center for Airways Sciences - Teen Flight program.  This is a pilot to involve young adults in Light Sport.  They are nearly finished with their own RV-12 at the factory in Aurora.

This is interesting! I signed on to the RV-12 List because I am helping a
friend who has just started a RV-12. I am a former RV-9A builder but I built
and now fly a RV-10. These are the first posts to the RV-12 List I've seen
and the names are familiar to me from the RV-10 List! Where are all the
 RV-12 builder posting I wonder?

				I'm here too.
Almost complete with the empenage kit. I was starting to think no one uses this. I know there are quite a few that prefer the matronics list with the -10 flyers but it appears most of the -12 guys are on VAF.

Some have finished with under 800 hours. Our High School students have no problem with Zero experience. Following the plans exactly helps. Would definately do the Vans kit. Most builds do it with few but primitive tools.  With the use of RV-10 tools, its a whiz.

Don, you can build the Sonex for a lot less money than an RV-12, but in my opinion, you will have a lot less airplane. I've built two RV-8's
and am now building the 12. It's a class act: very, very, clear instructions, parts fit up well. Van's really did their homework on this baby!

Joe, I agree with you. Though a lot of builders bounce back and forth between sites, coupled with the fact that the RV-12 does not yet have the following of the RV-10 matronics - This site is far superior for the effective communication of build detail. The lack of commercial advertising helps as well. Until serious build questions are posted here, we may have to wait a bit longer. Another is the Rotax site which will help address many misunderstandings on the 912 and its care. Then there is the aeroelectric site for the care of your avionics and wiring. Few discussions have addressed the removable wings and trailerable capability either.

Most of the builders are using Doug's site. http://www.vansairforce.com/community/index.php

 I like this format

 Hi Joe,

I've been watching also but not much to say -- when the medication wears off I start thinking about ordering a kit.

It appears that there are only a few builders using this site. I previously built a RV-9A and an RV-10 with the support of the Matronics site and I'm more comfortable with this format. I'm helping a first time builder with his RV-12 and I think I will continure to post here as we progress. I check the VAF site also but I think I'll hang out here, partially for the information but mainly I like to share in the progress of others and get to know a little about them as the projects move along.

PS: On a flight back to Yuma from Boise, ID yesterday we stopped for breakfast at CAL-NEV-ARI (Kidwell K1L4). I'm always looking for a new airport to land at and this one would be ideal for LSA aircraft. Dirt (sand) strip with a café next to the parking area (and a casino-it’s Nevada) excellent breakfast. It's an airpark and a Skyhawk landed behind us for a quick meal also. So if you live in the '3 corners' area consider this one when your RV-12 is finished. [quote] [b]
