Wow, I didnt expect a full year delay from import to Canadian airworthiness..
At least, it does seems like the firewall wont be an issue.
As for the carb heat, looks like a minor job if using that Skydrive technology.
What about the gascolator requirement ? Anyone been able to get away with only fuel drains at the lowest point in the fuel system ?
Finally my wife asks about the cabin heat. I know that N202Y doesnt have cabin heat; the guys down South say it's a warm cabin... Is that the case ? Would it be required if I wanted to fly in ~ 0C ground temperature ? Any way to easily fit this in a Classic with R912UL ?

But can't you fly it on the American registration for a while, like a year, it gives you time to make any mods.

Hello to you all
I'm well progressing on my way to importing an Europa "classic" from the USA.
I have had a few chats with the ppl in charge of inspections of amateur-built aircrafts at Transport Canada (http://www.md-ra.com) about their requirement for the firewall be made of a "fireproof material", like stainless or galvanized steel.
However, he also stated that I could use any other material that has been used on any other Canada-airworthy Europa !
So, the question to all CANADIAN Europa owners: what is your Europa firewall made of ?
Also, do all the Canadian Europas have carb heat on their Rotax engines ? If so, which origin ? My 912 currently does not have one...

The skydrive installation is a minor job, if all goes well, but the tolerances are very tight and when I did mine I was very relieved that the
unit did not get stuck half way.
I don't think you need a gascolator, but would recommend fitting one.
If you go back in the archives, Bud posted an item on a heating system, but it will take some work.
I've tried taking heat from the muffler and the exhaust pipe, but with little success. My aircraft is pleasant to fly with the temps around zero C, provided that it is
sunny. Generally I can't get my plane out of the hangar once the snow flies, so I've decided that long Johns and battery heated socks are all I need if I can get out of the hangar.
You will not get much heat off a 912, my 912S runs cool.
