Hi Group! When building, I always enjoyed those
inspiring messages that kept me motivated to work on
the project... so, here is one from me.
Since a few weeks, I spend a lot more time working
around my house than flying. Saturday, familly and me
shuffled about 30 yards of earth and it was a long
day... Sunday early morning, nobody in my house wanted
to get out of bed and I decided it would be a unique
time to take a little break from working on the house
and go flying.
Enroute to the airport, I called my mother in
Sherbrooke and we arranged to meet at Sherbrooke's
airport. After a quick weather and notam check with
the FSS I deposited my flight plan and prepared the
plane (my local airport is 10 minutes from home).
Soon enough, I was flying, after a Pitts, a RV4 and 2
ultralights took off. The route to Sherbrooke is not
that long (50 minutes), but the scenery is quite nice
and the weather was simply beautiful. There were no
clouds, no wind, no turbulences... a great day!
After landing at CYSC, I saw my mother waiting for me
at the parking area. My mother is 65, suffers vertigo
when climbing on a chair and is normally not in a very
good physical shape... but Sunday, she was doing well,
smiling and asked me how it was in the air. She
wanted to try it for a ride!
I said hello to some of my friends, found somebody to
take pictures (I did not have my camera and I did not
imagine she would ask me for that). And then, I taught
her how to sit in the plane. Soon after, we were
taking of from runway 31 for a short local flight
(over her house). She enjoyed it (even though she
would have prefered I fly straight all the way with no
turns).
After a good breakfast, we said goodbye to each other
and I came back home, making some detours around areas
I like in Eastern Township (my uncle house near Magog,
Mount Orford, etc etc).
I was home for lunch and then got back to work.

Michel, thank you. For all of us whose Mothers have gone on, we appreciate
your story. I was there in your plane with you and your Mother. I envy you your
Sunday morning. Bill of Georgia

Wonderful story Michel. I'm sure your mother was proud of you and told all
her friends of the experience. These are the moments we never forget.
