As some have found stronger tail wheel springs with little slack in them make for a better goundhandlingairplane. The weak stock springs will also allow the tail wheel to rotate and unlock completely in a strong cross wind. So I installedcompressionsprings andriggedthem with little slack.
The problem then surfaced that even with full rudder deflection the the tail wheel would not unlock. The fix was to drill two holes closer to thepivotpoint in the tail wheel bell crank to get the tail wheel to unlock at full rudder defection.
Attached is my tail wheel and compression springs. Note the red line drawing to the right of the existing tail wheel bell crank. The drawingrepresentsa some what longer than theoriginalbellcrank but you get the idea. As with everything else on my plane the extra length, that came with the tail wheel, no longerservedany purpose so I cut it off.

Hello Rick,

Thanks for posting the picture of your tail wheel rigs on the list, unfortunately it shows up on my computer as a string for letters and numbers.

Could you E-mail it to me as an attachment? Thanks for your trouble. I hope you are having good flying weather over there.

Sincerely,
