Someone's building a fly in community near Danville. Here's the web site.
http://birchcreekplantation.com/index.htm
I called and they want $40,000 an acre! Lots are 2 - 4 acres. Seems a little
high to me. It's a 2000ft grass strip. I'd love to live at a place like this
but this is ridiculous! (or maybe I'm just unrealistic...) Anyone want to go
in with me and start one between Danville and Greensboro?

Well I got a deal for you , brand new airpark in Greenville NC with 2000'
grass strip ,paved public road and lots starting at $60,000.00 per lot.

If you had an idea of what is involved to built an airpark you would
understand, considering the cost of raw land , and installing a public road
with utilities and then taking a huge part of that land to grow pretty grass
on it (runway). Now you see why the prices are what they are, and keep in
mind most people that develop airparks dont do it for profit they do it for
the fun of living on one with your best friends enjoying the life style.
Hope that helps you understand.

Interesting. I had no idea it was so expensive to develop an airpark. (or to
move into one!) Guess I'll keep my city owned hanger for now.

Where is the airpark near Greenville? My wife and I are looking for land to
build a house around the Raleigh area. It sure would be great if we could
live on an airfield.

The airpark is located between Greenville and Winterville. Hope you realize
that Raleigh is 80 miles away to the west.
But Greenville is a city of 70,000 and the home of ECU one of the largest
University's in NC, I don't know were you are from so I don't know what you
know about our area.
The airpark is 5 miles outside Greenville and to the South of the city.

hope that helps

Thanks, this helps.

We just recently moved to an apartment in Raleigh. I moved my RV-7A project
to 5W5 so I would have space to work. We want to live somewhere between
Raleigh and the coast, so Greenville fits. However, I travel for my job and
will need to get to a large airport on a regular basis. Greenville is
probablty a little farther than I want to go, but I thought I would find out
more info anyway.

Hello Greg

Greenville has PGV with hourly flights to Charlotte, and Kinston ( 20 miles
away) has hourly flights to Atlanta so it is not too bad.
I am also building an RV7A working on wiring and plumbing the fuselage.
