I have just installed my motor so big things happening here.
I'm using a LOM praha M337 motor so there is no off the shelf exhaust system available so I have to make my own. An internet search turns up a few shops that make stainless steel exhaust manifolds. Are exhaust manifolds normally stainless or mild steel? What advantage is there in a stainless steel exhaust manifold over mild steel other than longevity?
Thanks
Mike

I would go for stainless for sure since the added cost in a custom exhaust is small.
I used a US company called Aircraft Exhaust for my lycoming 360. They send stubby stacks to bolt to the exhaust ports and a collector for the end and you make a mock up with PVC pipe. You send them the mock up and they fabricate it. With the straight six I would make two 3 to 1 manifolds which would be identical if possible.
My exhaust in ceramic coated on the outside, but the now everyone coats inside and out. Ceramic coating helps keep the heat in the exhaust and not under the cowl.
There are some pictures of my exhaust on bobs website.
Cheers,
Scott
