George Moore’s KIS TR-1 is for sale.
Like many builders before, sometime just past the mid 1990s George took a trip out west to see the KIS up close. He went for a ride with Rich in the TR-1, examined the TR-4, and toured the small airplane shop in Oxnard, California. Not long afterward he took delivery of KIS TR-1 kit # 085. He persevered, and the kit was completed in 2001. George has been flying it ever since. George was one of early the pioneers of the Subaru engine conversion and contributed to a Contact Magazine article entitled “Why you should know your ECU; Three Case Studies”. His Subaru experience has proven the Subaru to be a reliable workhorse in the air. George notes his KIS is an excellent performing aircraft and an all around great flying airplane. It has been everything he expected it to be and more. The build features an extended elevator by two inches. The main landing gear is in the stock position and George reports handling in the landing mode to be adequate in this configuration. This ai!
rplane has a high level of fit and finish with excellent workmanship exhibited through out the airplane. The well appointed interior has comfortable temperfoam cushions. It is a ten inside and out and a head turner where ever it goes. The airplane has served George well for many years but regrettably it has come time find a new home for it.

Hello Jerry,
To the best of my knowledge there are no KIS aircraft in Ohio. The closest KIS TR-1s to that area are:
George Moore - Jackson, Michigan
Evan Carew - Beverly Hills, Michigan
Older KIS owned by Ed Forester - Fischers, Indiana (this airplane currently being advertised for sale).
There is another TR-1 build in mid to south eastern Indiana near the Illinos border but I have been unable to locate this one. This guy is a Kitfox builder and would be in his late 70s. He bought the kit for cross country flying. This airplane should be flying.
Mr. Elden - Zelienople, Pennsylvania; This is under construction and very far along and can be seen at EAA chapter 857.
Jerry, Do you still have the Kindig KIS TR-1 N94K (#094 or #095)? Can you inform me as to the status of this airplane? The family is attempting to track down as many kits as we can find.
Best Regards,
Mark Trickel

Thank everyone the provided input on KIS TR-1 near Ohio.
The new owner of N94K lives in Ohio...the FAA paperwork is not finalized
and when it does I will notify others of the ownership transfer.
The SN for N94K is 095. The airplane does not have a current condition
inspection.

Mark,
If you're trying to track down various kits, KIS TR-1c #51 built by Richard Warden likely flew it's final flight on May 26, 2012. During the landing rollout the weld attaching the left rudder pedal & brake failed resulting in an inability to maintain directional control (no left rudder or brake). The plane departed the runway to the right at Roche Harbor (Friday Harbor, WA) and eventually came to rest with the nose caught in a sheep fence along the runway. The landing gear collapsed, prop strike, damage to the wings and fuselage. My insurance company totaled the plane.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
