Hello, all

Can someone provide a source for the CH650 canopy gas spring? (there's a joke in here somewhere...)

I know McMaster-Carr sells it, but they do not ship outside the USA, so it does not work for me.

I found two or three sources in Canada, but they don't seem to sell retail (I wrote to them today).

I'd appreciate any pointers you might have.
Thanks
Carlos

Why not just order it from ZAC?

HI Carlos,

When I started my current project I was scratch building. I spent hours and hours sourcing various parts in the kit. After spending countless hours and price comparing I found out that on things like this, ZAC is very reasonable. They are a little more, yes. But the time you will spend trying to find them yourself has real value too.

IMHO – order from ZAC. It is worth it for the time saved.

Steve

Hello, Steve
I might end up doing that, but I have no idea of the prices, I thought I'd shop around first.

Carlos,
I don't know if the 650 uses the same spring as the 601. I only mention this because myself and many others found the original 40# spring on the 601 to be inadequate, and changed it out for a 60#. The 40# would hold the canopy up, but couldn't be trusted in even the slightest breeze. If you don't find a satisfactory solution, I'd be willing to middle-man one from M-C for you.

Carlos, Canadian Tire has a selection of lift struts in their automotive department.

I don't know if they have the ones for a 650 but at least it is a Canadian source.
