Is it me, or are others having trouble with the 149-12LS starter?
When these starters first came out, I called Les and told him he needed to adjust the hole by about .020 to make it fit better. This one is off every bit of .100 inches. Not only that, I had to grind off the top of the brace to the alternator because the relief was not deep enough.
I've had two owners who bought Plane Power alternators and removed them because they were too noisy. High pitched whine in the headset. I replaced them with the old Kelly overhaul and it was fine. I still have the second PP alternator in a box on my shelf. It has about 10 hours on it.
Several years ago, I installed a PP alternator in a 2005 AG5B. The spacers that came with the alternator didn't fit the application. Rather than exchanging the parts, PP made the owner buy the correct spacers.
Just my experience . . . . . . . . .
