I saw a fellow once who polished his prop. After that he had to carry
polishing rags and polish with him every where he went. I would only polish
if you are planning on something similar to a clear lacquer finish.

Question, can one Polish and then Paint over with a clear laquer, thus
retaining the "Shine" indefinatly (spelling is orrible)
